We offer daily social activities and a therapy gym. In our comfortable lobby, you’ll find books, games, large screen TVs, and a fireplace to enjoy in our cozy conversation areas. The Shoal has lovely exterior grounds bordered by woodlands, and a modern dining room serving delicious, nutritious, home-cooked meals.

I transferred my dear, 91-year old cousin to The Shoal in Texas City two weeks ago. All the arrangements, from referral to the move, were accomplished in just one week, including a COVID tes for my cousint. The hospice social worker highly recommended The Shoal, out of all the facilities where she works, saying it was the best. Was she ever right! Natalie Robertson, not only coordinated the logistics efficiently, but she also wanted to know about my cousin personally. I am her only relative, and I live in a different state, so everything could have been much more difficult, but all went smoothly. COVID protocols and restrictions prevented Natalie from meeting Flora personally, prior to admission. After we talked, I felt like she knew me as well as the future patient. My cousin lived in her home for over 40 years, and I was expecting a difficult transition, but Natalie and The Shoal team set up her room to replicate her bedroom at home, including wall paintings and photo albums and a favorite Longhorn blanket. Flora settled in immediately, and I’m getting daily communication about her mental and physical status. I do not yet know the names of all the nurses and aides, but want to acknowledge the uniformly excellent care they have provided. The Shoal shattered my notions about nursing homes; it is home.
